With Valentine’s day around the corner the trainers at Vintage Fitness, an in home personal training company for the 50+ thought we would design a 15 minute cardio program. There is no equipment needed for the program so it can be done anywhere.

In honour of fathers day on Sunday this blog is all about the best exercises for Dad. At Vintage Fitness we have been training men over 50 for the last 11 years. Some of the trends that we see are: Poor posture, Weak hamstrings, Beer belly and loss of strength.

Heart disease is the #1 killer of older men and women. Being physically active is the best thing you can do for your heart health. Exercise will lower your heart resting heart rate, lower your blood pressure and improve your fitness.

This week I use interval training, alternating between cardiovascular exercise which should get your heart rate up with strength training using your body weight as resistance. You will get a great workout in no time.

With the holidays fast approaching life can start to feel busy as well as very social with holiday dinners and drinks. A few Vintage Fitness personal training clients here in Toronto have asked me to create a series of 15 minute full body holiday workouts that they can do even on busy days. This is the first of six workouts which will take you right until Christmas Day.

This is the eighth week of a ten week blog series filled with exercise pictures and tips. The focus this week is on cardiovascular exercises that are great for the heart, balance and can be done at home on days that it is too cold or rainy to get out for your walk. . These exercises are all low impact buy some of them involve getting down on the floor.
