• Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting a fitness journ ey—especially later in life—comes with questions. Whether you're wondering about our in-home sessions, trainer qualifications, or how to get started, you'll find clear, reassuring answers here. Our goal is to help you feel confident, informed, and supported every step of the way.

Getting Started with Vintage Fitness

During your free 30-minute consultation, there's no need to exercise. We'll discuss how our training works, learn about your fitness goals, review pricing, and ensure you're comfortable with your potential trainer. It's an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Vintage Fitness specializes in in-home personal training for adults aged 50 and over. While we don't operate a physical facility, our certified trainers come directly to your home or condo to provide personalized fitness.
Most sessions are 1 hour.
While we focus on in-home personal training, some of our trainers also lead group classes like yoga and Zumba. If you're interested in organizing a small group session, please contact Leigh at leigh@vintagefitness.ca.
Our trainers are certified personal trainers with additional specialization in older adult fitness. Many hold degrees in health-related fields, ensuring knowledgeable and safe guidance tailored to your needs.

Services & Specializations

Yes, we do. All of our senior fitness specialist trainers are experienced in working with conditions that often come with age—including arthritis, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, MS, and dementia. Each program is adapted with care to support your health needs while helping you build strength and confidence safely.
Absolutely. We frequently support clients preparing for surgeries like hip or knee replacements. Pre-surgery strength-building often leads to a faster, smoother recovery and gives you a head start in getting back to doing what you love.
Definitely. Fall prevention is one of our core focuses. We teach both exercises and practical strategies to improve balance and mobility. Our group programs have already helped many seniors across Toronto feel more secure and independent.
Yes! We specialize in functional training—exercises that translate directly into your daily life. Whether it’s getting off the floor with ease or feeling more confident lifting groceries, we design sessions to make everyday tasks safer and more manageable.
Our trainers specialize in gradual, sustainable progress. That means improving your strength, balance, energy, and flexibility while respecting any limitations. We help clients with conditions ranging from post-stroke recovery to Parkinson’s, and everything in between.

Trainer Expertise & Customization

Very much so. Our trainers work exclusively with older adults and are specially trained to support a range of conditions. Whether it’s joint issues, limited mobility, or cognitive concerns, we work at your pace and adjust to your needs.
We begin with a detailed intake assessment covering posture, gait, strength, flexibility, and more. We also talk through your personal goals—whether that’s climbing stairs without pain or getting back to your garden. From there, we build a plan just for you.
Yes, we regularly reassess your progress. Your trainer will share updates with you during sessions, helping you see the strides you’re making. Many clients find these moments incredibly motivating—it’s encouraging to see just how far you’ve come.

Virtual Training

It’s easier than you might think. We walk you through setup step by step. Many of our clients love the convenience—no travel, flexible scheduling, and yes, only one corner of the house needs to be tidy! You’ll still receive personal guidance in real-time, just like in person.
Not much at all. Your trainer will recommend specific tools based on your needs after your initial assessment. Every new client receives a welcome kit that includes a resistance band and a ball—just enough to get you moving safely and effectively from home.
We’ve seen excellent results from virtual training. Your trainer can still observe your movements closely and provide real-time guidance to keep you safe and progressing. Many clients tell us they feel just as supported as they would in person—and they appreciate the comfort and convenience of training from home.

In-Home Session Logistics

No need to purchase equipment—we bring everything required for your sessions, tailored to your fitness plan.
Yes, we offer personal training in pools. Since we don't have a facility, sessions are conducted in your condo or community pool, provided it's available for use.

Scheduling & Holidays

We require at least 12 hours' notice for cancellations. To reschedule, you can:
  • Contact your trainer directly
  • Call or email Leigh at (866) 471-0109 or leigh@vintagefitness.ca

Any missed sessions where we are given 12 hour notice simply get banked to the end of your contract. You can use them later within, or after, your 3, 6, or 12-month program duration.

Safety & Emergency Protocols

Safety is our top priority. We assess your space for tripping hazards, encourage proper hydration, and take frequent breaks. We encourage you to use assisted devices (such as your cane or walker) as needed and monitor your form and energy level throughout. All trainers are CPR and First Aid certified.
You’re encouraged to take a break immediately. Your trainer will check in with you to determine whether to pause or stop for the day. Listening to your body is part of how we keep you safe and confident while training.

Family & Caregiver Involvement

Of course! Many clients feel more comfortable with a loved one nearby. We just ask that instruction be left to the trainer during your session to ensure consistency and focus.
Yes, with your consent, we’re happy to keep your family in the loop. Whether it’s sharing progress milestones or collaborating on goals, we value relationships with both our clients and their support systems.

Insurance, Payment & Pricing

Usually not, but we recommend checking with your provider—some health spending accounts may reimburse personal training for medical reasons.
Yes, we offer a variety of packages and pricing options. We’d love to chat with you in a free consultation to find the plan that works best for your goals and budget.
All payments are processed through Vintage Fitness. After your free 30-minute consultation, we'll send you an invoice, payable online or by phone using Visa or Mastercard. Invoices are issued monthly, and trainers do not handle payments directly.
