Making everyday activities easier - Lifting a heavy pot when cooking
This blog is a part of a series all about the best exercises to make everyday activities that current Vintage Fitness clients tell us they find hard easier. Lifting heavy pots when you are cooking and transferring them to the stove, strainer or counter takes arm strength, shoulder strength and balance.
Tips for lifting a heavy pot:
- Don’t use your back: Make sure to keep your back straight and bend your knees when you lift the pot
- Be ready to use both hands: Before you pick the pot up grab something to protect your other hand in case you need both hands to carry the pot
- Move slowly: Falls often happen when people move too quickly and get dizzy or lose their balance.
This video shows exercises to strengthen your arms and shoulders to make your next cooking adventure a breeze
