Kimberley Lugsdin is a senior fitness and wellness professional whose work closely aligns with the mission of Vintage Fitness — helping older adults stay strong, mobile, and independent through safe, purposeful movement. Kimberley specializes in delivering fitness programs that are not only effective, but also compassionate, adaptable, and deeply respectful of each individual’s abilities.
Kimberley holds a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from York University, a Geriatric Certificate from McMaster University, and a Seniors Fitness Instructor Certification from Western University. Her education provides a strong foundation in age-related physiological changes, chronic disease management, mobility limitations, and fall prevention. She also maintains certifications in CPR C + AED, First Aid, PIECES, DementiAbility, and Gentle Persuasive Approaches, allowing her to work confidently with clients living with dementia, cognitive decline, arthritis, balance challenges, and complex health needs.
Throughout her career, Kimberley has worked with hundreds of older adults annually across retirement residences, adult day programs, and healthcare settings, including Shepherd Village, Newmarket Health Centre, and Scarborough Retirement Residence. In these roles, she designed and delivered both group and one-on-one fitness programs focused on strength, balance, flexibility, posture, and functional movement. Her programs emphasize real-life mobility — standing safely from a chair, navigating stairs, improving gait, and reducing fall risk.
What makes Kimberley especially well suited to Vintage Fitness is her ability to work with seniors who are hesitant, fearful, or unmotivated to exercise. She understands that many older adults carry anxiety around falling, pain, or past injuries. With patience and encouragement, she builds trust and confidence, helping clients feel safe enough to re-engage with movement. Her sessions are carefully paced, adaptable, and grounded in positive reinforcement, ensuring participants feel successful rather than overwhelmed.
Kimberley’s professional approach is deeply shaped by her personal caregiving experience. For more than ten years, she was an advocate and caregiver for her mother following a serious motor vehicle accident. Through this journey, she gained firsthand experience navigating rehabilitation, mobility changes, and the healthcare system. This lived experience strengthened her empathy and allowed her to connect authentically with both seniors and their families.
Kimberley believes that fitness for older adults should never be intimidating or one-size-fits-all. Her philosophy mirrors that of Vintage Fitness: movement should support independence, confidence, and quality of life. Whether she is guiding a balance-focused session, modifying exercises for joint pain, or celebrating a small but meaningful milestone, Kimberley approaches every client with respect, patience, and genuine
