Most falls can be prevented by strengthening the leg and ankle muscles and knowing how to fall proof your home.  The most effective fall prevention exercises will be demonstrated, explained and practiced  and the most common causes of falls reviewed.  This is a great way to prevent falls in retirement homes and keep seniors still living at home safe.

Top Strengthening Exercises for Older Adults

Nutrition: Should what I eat change when I am a senior?

Many seniors fall into nutritional pitfalls that compromise their health and wellbeing.  Learn how to properly fuel your body to feel more energized, lose unhealthy abdominal fat and get all of the nutrients and vitamins you need. This workshop can be done in retirement residences in conjunction with the chef to explain the reasoning behind the healthy food offered at the residence.

Osteoporosis: My bone density is low--what should I do?

Osteoporosis Canada statistics reveal that 80% of fractures in people over 50 are a result of osteoporosis and 30,000 Canadians break their hip every year due to the condition.  This workshop will explain what osteopenia and osteoporosis are, the best way to manage them and the most effective exercises and eating habits to build bone density.
